of all the works i have researched for my brief this work was the one that spoke to me the most. i really love its composition and it has become my deam to one day see this in person

i really like the works of F.A the application of paint and his methodology and approach to a work amazes me. i like knowing that you can always pull a work back and ultimately create a great work through dedication and persistance

Painting- Frank Auerbach

Head of Julia, 1960. Oil on canvas,

born in Berlin
parents- Charlotte Nora Burchardt (Artist) and Max Auerbach (a patent lawyer).

Frank was sent to England in 1939 to escape Nazi percecution. Both his parents that were left behind in Germany later died in a consentration camp in 1942. I think this was a key driving force behind his work.
